BTS' 'Butter' has been topped on the US Billboard Singles Chart for 7 weeks in a row. Billboard has announced on the 12th(local time) that 'Butter' topped the main single chart 'Hot 100'.

'Butter' has maintained No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart since it has been released on May 21st. Including the record for 3 weeks in a row with 'Dynamite', BTS's 'Hot 100' is in total 12 times. Among the songs that entered the Billboard 'Hot 100', 'Butter' is the 8th one to hold the lead for more than 7 weeks in a row.

The Hot 100 ranking is calculated by reflecting the amount of music downloads, streaming figures, and the number of radio broadcasts. This year, Olivia Rodrigo's 'Drivers License' has been at the top for eight weeks in a row. 'Butter' followed the record of Olivia Rodrigo's 'Driver's License'.

Among the 54 songs that debuted at No.1 on the 'Hot 100', 'Butter' is the eighth one that has been at the top for more than 7 weeks consecutively. As a group song, it is the second longest-running one after Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's 1995 song 'One Sweet Day', which had held the No.1 rangking for 16 weeks in a row.

In Billboard history, the No.1 songs on the 'Hot 100' for 8 consecutive weeks were Mariah Carey's 'Fantasy'(8 weeks) and Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's 'One Sweet Day'(16 weeks), Puff Daddy and Faith Evans' 'I'll Be Missing You' (11 weeks), Elton John's 'Candle in the Wind'(14 weeks), Adele's 'Hello'(10 weeks), Drake's 'God's Plan' (10 weeks) and Olivia Rodrigo's 'Drivers License' (8 weeks).

Attention is focused on how far ‘Butter’, which entered the charts as soon as it was released, will break the record. With the strong fandom 'ARMY' on its back, the strong prospect of 'Butter' is prevailing for a while. In particular, 'Butter' dominates music downloads. In the chart that counts the number of streams separately, the ranking rose five steps from 31st to 26th. This is the point where the long-term box office success of 'Butter' is expected.

BTS debuted as a 7-member boy group on June 13, 2013. BTS, which debuted in 2013 and swept the Rookie of the Year Awards at home and abroad, has grown into the top boy group representing Korea in name and reality. BTS has grown into a '21st century pop icon', causing a worldwide craze.

It has climbed to the top of the world's leading charts such as US Billboard, UK Official Charts, Japanese Oricon, iTunes, Spotify, and Apple Music, and is also writing unrivaled records in album sales, music video views, and SNS indexes. In particular, BTS is the first group to simultaneously conquer both the Billboard 'Hot 100' and 'Billboard 200' Charts in one week, and topped the 'Billboard 200' 5 times and the 'Hot 100' 3 times.

BTS has solidified its position as a global artist in the global concert market by holding stadium tours around the world, and is practicing good influence through UN speeches and LOVE MYSELF campaigns.

Starting with the 2017 BBMA 'Top Social Artist' Award, BTS achieved 101.1 million views in 24 hours, 20 million likes in the world's shortest music video, and debuted as the 2nd in the world to top the Billboard Hot 100/200 chart at the same time and BTS made its name known around the world for Simultaneous 1st place on Billboard Hot 100/200/ARTIST 100, 1st place on Billboard Hot 100/200 for 5 weeks, Artist 100 1st place for 13 weeks, Nominations and performances at the 3 major American music awards, First Korean singer performance at Wembley Stadium, world tour synagogue revenue of $6.2 million, the largest concert ever held by a Korean singer(62 performances, mobilized 2.06 million audiences), 2nd in the world in initial album sales(3.7 million copies), 1st in cumulative album sales in Korea(more than 22 million copies), single album sales with numerous records at home and abroad, including 6.5 million copies, the youngest to be awarded the Order of Cultural Merits of the Republic of Korea, the first all-time grand prize at a major domestic awards ceremony, the highest number of grand prizes in the history of Korean singers, and the most No.1 on the Gaon Digital Weekly/Monthly Chart(11 weeks, 3 months total).

In particular, BTS is gaining popularity in America and Western Europe, where K-pop has not been well known. In September 2020, BTS became the first Korean to reach No.1 on the Billboard 'Hot 100' with 'Dynamite' and was nominated and performed solo at the Grammy Awards for the first time in K-pop, and in November 2020, 'BE' and 'Life Goes On' took 1st place on Billboard's main chart Hot 100 (single) and 200 (album) at the same time, achieving numerous achievements, such as being the first song sung in Korean language in Billboard's 62-year history to top the Billboard 'Hot 100'.

Forbes reported on the economic effect of BTS, generating 5.5 trillion won in GDP in 2019. This figure is an estimate of the economic value and is equivalent to 0.29% of Korea's nominal GDP of 1.6194 trillion dollars(about 1924 trillion won) in 2018 announced by the World Bank. In addition, it was revealed that the economic effect brought to Korea by 'Dynamite' topped the Billboard 'Hot 100' is at least 1.7 trillion won. It is safe to say that BTS is a so-called walking conglomerate.

Big Hit Entertainment said that in the name BTS(防彈少年團), Bangtan(防彈) means by 'blocks bullets' and that "it contains the profound meaning that we will block the hardships, prejudice and oppression that teenagers face in their lives." On the other hand, some fans say that the meaning of "BTS" is the boy band created by Bang Si-hyuk.

BTS is a group originally organized with the concept of hip-hop music, so compared to other boy groups, rapper line members tend to get more attention than vocal line members. In the early days of its formation, they tried to debut as a hip-hop group centered on RM, and they said they had a concept of focusing on singing and rapping rather than choreography. RM joined Big Hit first, followed by Suga and J-Hope as early members. These three are currently active in BTS' rapper line. However, it is said that J-Hope originally wanted to be a vocal + dancer rather than a rapper, but when a large number of rapper trainees left, he changed his existing desired position and joined the rapper line. After hard work, J-Hope is currently in charge of one axis of the BTS rapper line. "Open the bulletproof chest!" In the episode, Suga left a saying to Bang Si-hyuk PD, "(When forming a group) you just need to dance and focus on rapping... Our choreography is the most difficult at the broadcasting station right now!"

About 30 trainees, including famous rappers who are currently active such as Beenzino, Basic, Iron, Ready, and Loco, went through the project, and after undergoing significant changes in the concept, they became the current idol type. There is a misconception that many rappers were preparing as idols for auditioning for BTS, but they were not originally formed as an idol group.

In BTS, the rapper line, who already had a career as a rapper, is evaluated to have better skills than the vocal line that started almost from scratch, and the rap portion of the song overall is quite high. And most of the members have the ability to write lyrics and compose, showing their side as a singer song-writer. In the early days, it was evaluated that there were still many shortcomings in vocal and rapper skills. However, the three rappers Suga, J-Hope, and RM always did not leave their names in the song-writing/composition credits, and the names of the vocal lines Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were also written in the 'In Love' series from 2015 to 2016 and went up on songwriting credits. In the 2017 album "YOU NEVER WALK ALONE", RM participated in the production and was active as a spring day in charge of composing the lyrics, chorus, and refrain, and now all members have grown musically enough to write or compose lyrics.

Interestingly, there are many of the album's concept, music video, and lyrics reference (or appear to be) from the literature or movie lines such the case that in the album series, "The Most Beautiful Love For You pt.1", "The Flower For Your Life pt.2", and "The Most Beautiful Love Forever Young Forever" album series, the movie "The Most Beautiful Love," and in the "WINGS" album, Hermann Hesse's novel "Demian" was the theme to build a worldview. For instance, the inn Omelas that appears in the music video for Spring Day is taken from Ursula K. Le Guin's short story "Those Who Leave Omelas". In addition, there are parts that appear to have borrowed literary passages and movie lines throughout the lyrics. To name a few examples that stand out, Kim Chun-soo's 'flower' used in 'Serendipity' (when I called his name, he came to me and became a flower), 'The Handmaiden' from the movie 'Pied Piper' (My savior who came to ruin my life) and the line from the movie 'Moonlight' that appears in the lyrics of 4 o'clock of FESTA 2017 (because the whole world is green in the moonlight).

Performance is also one of the big factors that made BTS get attention. Big Hit Entertainment's choreographer Son Seong-deuk is in charge of the former choreography. From the beginning of their debut, before they received attention, they have consistently shown high-level choreography. At the beginning of their debut, the official dance lines of BTS were J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook, but on May 7, 2018, when V's Singularity comeback trailer video was released, BTS choreographer Son Seong-deuk posted V as a dance line on his Instagram. He posted an acknowledgment and praised his dance. Currently, the two main dancers, J-Hope and Jimin, lead the dance line, performing intense choreography in different styles and occupying the center relatively evenly. Thanks to the high quality of the choreography, you can see a lot of BTS cover performances such as 'Boy In Luv', 'I NEED U', 'Dope', and 'Fire' at school festivals and on the street.

BTS is a group that communicates well with fans by using Social Networking Services (SNS) account management and Internet personal broadcasting well. Periodically, a vast amount of media content is provided through YouTube, V LIVE, and Twitter. Thanks to this, it is recording high RT count, communication index, SNS activity index, and reputation ranking. Since the second half of 2016, it has been ranked 1st to 3rd in idol brand reputation.

Within the group, the rapper line (Suga, J-Hope, RM) centered on the main rapper RM and lead rapper Suga, the vocal line (Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook) centered on the main vocal Jungkook and lead vocal Jimin, and the main dancer J It is often divided into dance lines (J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook) centered on Hop and Jimin are often distinguished from one after another.

The members' personalities are also famous for being full of excitement. In the video uploaded under the name of BANGTAN BOMB through the YouTube BANGTAN TV channel, you can see the members playing and playing around with excitement.

Overall, BTS is building its own worldview through songs on the thoughts and worries of young people in their teens and 20s, life and love, dreams and adversity, and organically unfolds related stories through various music videos.

As can be seen in the name of the album, 《2 COOL 4 SKOOL》, 《O!RUL8,2?》, 《SKOOL LUV AFFAIR》, a three-part school series, the life, love, social coercion and absurdity are expressed for which teenagers feel with their views and energy that have lived quite fiercely since their teens.

Starting with the 3rd mini-album "The Most Beautiful Life pt.1" as a starting point, the difficulties of young people in their twenties began to be revealed. From this time on, the lyrics of the stories that young people over college students begin to experience, such as social inequality represented by the N-po generation, passion pay, and the low-class theory, and local emotions appear in the lyrics.

The 2nd full-length album 'WINGS', which received the first grand prize from BTS and made it known to the world in earnest, talks about the pain, temptation, and maturity of youth as they grow up in addition to their musicality. Occasionally, a specific place name or brand is mentioned directly in the lyrics of a song, so it is judged not to be broadcasted on terrestrial broadcasting.

YOU NEVER WALK ALONE

The 2nd full-length repackage album, YOU NEVER WALK ALONE, is a follow-up album to WINGS, along with songs from the album WINGS, 'Spring Day', 'Not Today', 'Outro: Wings', 'A Supplementary Story: You Never'. Walk Alone' was added and released. It contains the message "If we are together, we can laugh," and contains "comfort" and "hope" that are given to young people living in this era. In particular, the title song 'Spring Day' has been loved by fans and the public after its release, and it stayed in the top 100 on the Melon Chart for several years, becoming the longest-running song ever.

LOVE YOURSELF

The LOVE YOURSELF series is a trilogy (Seung(承), Jeon(轉), Gyeol(結); each means from second step to the final one) in total, the album LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her', which contains the emotions of an innocent boy starting to love, and LOVE, which contains BTS' views on parting and a double message. The album "LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer", which contains the message that in the end, loving yourself is the beginning of true love, ends the trilogy successfully with the album YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'. One Chinese character that means victory over victory (起承轉結) was used in the album.

BTS WORLD OST

《BTS WORLD OST》 consists of a total of 4 parts. 'Dream Glow' is a unit song by Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, and Charli XCX. Through hopeful lyrics, dreams are the happiest thing while dreaming, and if you are dreaming, you have not given up yet. 'A Brand New Day' was performed by V, J-Hope, and Zara Larsson, and the unique tone stands out from the beginning. Although I have a fearful and terrifying heart, I sang about the will to achieve my dreams if I focus on my inner voice. 'All Night' is a song that RM, Suga, and Juice WRLD collaborated, and you can feel the 90s sensibility. It sings about BTS running day and night towards their dreams. Overall, it contains a hopeful message.

MAP OF THE SOUL

The 'MAP OF THE SOUL series' tells the story of love for fans in the album MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA, and the 7-year-old BTS looking back on themselves in the album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7.

'Dynamite' is estimated to have at least 1.7 trillion won in economic effect to Korea by ranking first on the Billboard 'Hot 100', and the meaning and influence of 'Dynamite' is considerable at a time when people around the world are suffering from Corona viruses. It deserves to be called an emotional vaccine that heals the hearts of people around the world.

Permission to dance

BTS, which captivated both the fandom and the public all over the world, became a world-wide superstar in name and reality. Now, attention is focused on 'Permission to dance', which BTS released in collaboration with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

‘Permission to Dance’ recorded on the ‘Butter’ single CD will debut on the ‘Hot 100’ chart next week. If this song enters number one on the 'Hot 100' chart next week, BTS will change only the song and record the trend of continuing to lead.

The box office outlook for 'Permission to Dance' is also positive. The music video surpassed 100 million views in two days after its release on the 9th, and topped the iTunes 'Top songs' chart in over 90 countries and regions around the world. The US Billboard's main single chart 'Hot 100' will be released on the 20th at the earliest.
